Disk Source

 

Disk sources are designed for use as reference sources. Each source is constructed using a Plexiglas® disk and is offered in two sizes: 1.0” x 0.125” and 2.0” x 0.125”.

All disk sources have an uncertainty of ± 20% of the labeled activity unless calibrated (± 5%) for an additional cost.

Alpha and beta sources cannot be calibrated.
Not all isotopes can be used in the manufacture of a disk source.
Domestic and international U.S. NRC exempt quantity source orders with activities over 10 μCi MAY require lead shielding. If required, the lead shield will be added to your order.

 


Po-210 Disk Source

 

The Po-210 disk source is designed for use as an alpha reference source. Po-210 is chemically plated on to the surface of a silver disk that is mounted at the bottom of the well of a Plexiglas® disk. The completed sources is unsealed. This source is offered in two sizes: 1.0” x 0.125” and 2.0” x 0.125”.

All Po-210 disk sources have an uncertainty of ± 20% of the labeled activity.

Not available for calibration.
If a sealed source is required, Po-210 is also available as a laminated disk source with an Al/Mylar window.

RSS2 – GM Resolving Time Source Set

 

The RSS2 source set is used for determining the resolving time of GM counters. It consists of 3 half-disks: 2 contain Tl-204 and 1 is left blank (contains no material).

All RSS2 sources have an uncertainty of ± 20% of the labeled activity.

Not available for calibration.

The RSS3 source set is designed for demonstrating the basic characteristics of radiation. It consists of 3 disk sources: 1 gamma emitter, 1 beta emitter, and 1 alpha emitter.

All RSS3 sources have an uncertainty of ± 20% of the labeled activity.

Alpha and beta sources cannot be calibrated.
