ST360 Radiation Counter

QS_RLBR.GIF (2244 bytes)

(Shown with SP78W1 Well Detector)

The  ST360 Radiation Counter operates with a scintillation detector for gross counting of gamma ray samples. Applications include wipe testing,  medical samples and other measurements requiring wide energy range and high sensitivity.

A +1200V adjustable HV supply provides sufficient current to power many types of NaI(Tl) detectors including well crystals using a single wire connection. The supply is fully regulated and controlled by the processor for digital accuracy and readout on the display. Extra large LED's are used for the digital display for clear visual readout under widely differing ambient light conditions. Leading zeros are suppressed for clarity.

The instrument will operate as a stand-alone bench top unit or measurements may be run directly from an IBM-PC compatible or Macintosh computer using the on-line serial Data-Link built into the ST360 via USB or serial ports. All functions of the Radiation Counter are accessible and controlled from the computer including the high voltage setting for detector. The Radiation Counter-PC software supplied produces computer screen displays of all functions including analog emulation of the ratemeter mode. Real-time data is automatically transferred to the computer and stored in spreadsheet compatible files. Data analysis and graphical presentation is  possible using many common spreadsheet programs.

Software.

STX Software is a totally new software package designed to work with the entire product line of STxxx instrumentation. Once this straightforward and intuitive software is learned, operation of all the  ST160ST360 or ST370 instruments is easy. Designed for both high school and college level nuclear science instruction, the STX Software provides a complete solution for performing many basic nuclear demonstrations and experiments with Spectrum Techniques instrumentation. Experiments such as The Range of Alpha Particles, Absorption of Beta Particles, Inverse Square Law, Half-Life Decay, Detection Efficiency and Counting Statistics, plus many additional laboratory exercises for both introductory and intermediate instruction may be performed with the STX Software and Spectrum Techniques instrumentation.

The STX Software automatically identifies the instruments connected to the USB buss and each instrument is presented in its own, individually controllable, and identified, window.
